We are

SENSORY FRIENDLY

Here at Hidden Valley pods we want to make sure that our pods feel warm and welcoming to everyone. This includes feeling safe, secure and happy whilst your here, but still able to explore and enjoy all we have to offer. Our Cheesden Brook pod has been specially designed with that in mind!

Sensory Friendly areas/items are designed to create a experience that is welcoming to all families. They are especially wonderful for children on the Autistic Spectrum or with other SENs, that create a sensitivity to sensory input. It’s a place where the children can feel free to be themselves, whilst still feeling comfortable in a new environment.

Interior/Design

Our Cheesden Brook pod has been designed in a way that will feel welcoming to everyone. With all the inside interior light and airy, it creates a warm calming experience that is proven to help SEN  children feel safe and secure, whilst still looking modern and spacious for anyone wanting to stay.

We can provide your child with a weighted blanket that will be ready on their bed to use on your arrival. Please ask when booking.

Sensory items

During your stay in the Cheesden Brook pod, we can provide a complimentary sensory basket for your child/ren filled with books, fidget toys and sensory items. Just ask upon booking and this will be placed in your pod ready for your arrival.

We also have noise - cancelling headphones available too, again just ask upon booking and these can be included with your sensory basket.

Certain items like these can help a child feel calm and reassured when over stimulated and make their time here at Hidden Valley Pods an enjoyable one.

Outdoors

Children with SEN benefit hugely from connecting with nature. Through nature, children gain important skills while learning how to care for living things and their environment.

Hidden Valley pods is perfect for just that. Surrounded by rolling fields, by coming up close to a variety of farm animals, and sighting a variety of wildlife , the children can experience a taste of true nature here. In the Cheesden Brook garden, there is also a sensory wall for the children to explore and learn, developing a wide range of skills physically and mentally.

Sensory Retreat

It is very useful in any setting to have an environment that a child can retreat to when feeling over-stimulated and ready to withdraw or have a meltdown. With that in mind the bottom bunk bed is a perfect little hideaway, giving the child a sense of security and helping them to calm down in their 'own space'. Glow in the dark stars have been placed above the bed to generate a 'cool' den area that can be easily enjoyed by ALL children who stay here. The bottom bunk also has a fitted colour changing LED light creating different moods via the remote control, to help your child settle with their preferred colour.
